The Guardian reels in online journalism awards

For it’s work on the NSA files, the documents leaked by Edward Snowden, The Guardian was awarded the Gannett Foundation Online Journalism Awards (OJA) for investigative and watchdog journalism. The honor was awarded to them by the Online News Association the leading body in the USA for digital news organisations.

With the reporting on the NSA files in june, The Guardian made public that the US National Security Agency had been collecting private telephone data of millions of Americans.

The OJA’s are the only set of prizes honoring excellence in online journalism.
